TORONTO, June 22, 2017 — Forbes brought together the biggest names in travel to compile their first top 10 influencers in travel list. Dave Bouskill and Debra Corbeil of ThePlanetD.com are the only Canadian travel influencers on that list.
“We are thrilled to be included in the Forbes Top 10 Travel Influencers List and to be representing Canada in the world of online travel media. To be recognized by a publication like Forbes that has the expertise to review a true audience and engagement is a significant milestone for The Planet D,” said Dave.
Forbes measured reach, relevance and engagement related to each influencer’s area of expertise by partnering with analytics firm Traackr. They also weighted potential earnings with the help of social insight platform, Captiv8 who provided snapshots of each influencer’s audience. Forbes then reviewed endorsements and other offline business opportunities to compile this list of influencers who built their fame from the Internet up.
Starting their travel blog in 2008, Dave and Deb have travelled to 107 countries on all seven continents inspiring others to step out of their comfort zones and pursue a life of passion. Living by their motto adventure is for everyone, they’ve developed a loyal and engaged following around the world that come to them for travel tips, travel advice and information on how to start their own travel blog or get paid to travel.
They have leveraged their audience into lucrative business earning a high six-figure annual income. As a result of their influence they have worked on campaigns and partnerships with the likes of American Express and Cathay Pacific.
“We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our readers and fans and look forward to sharing more travel inspiration over the course of the next few months and beyond,” said Deb.
Dave and Deb are partnering for a second time with Go Ahead Tours to travel to Tanzania on Safari in August. They started working with Go Ahead in 2016 where Dave and Deb showcased their time traveling with them through Scandinavia. The Planet D is then off to Kyrgyzstan to share their adventures from yet another off the beaten path destination where they’ll be traveling overland by horseback and attending a World Nomads Games event.
With speaking engagements and travels booked through 2017, Dave and Deb are excited for the future of The Planet D and look forward to sharing more projects and events with their readers throughout the year and beyond.
