Galvanize Announces New York Campus Education License

DENVER, May 15, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Galvanize New York is excited to announce that its Data Science and Web Development courses are officially licensed by the New York Bureau of Proprietary School Supervision (BPSS) and the first scheduled classes begin in June 2017.

“We are thrilled to be in New York, one of the most exciting, forward thinking tech and financial markets in the world and the epicenter of the urban creative class,” said Galvanize CEO Jim Deters.

Last December, Galvanize announced that it received a $1.3 million award from the State of New York as an incentive to bring the company to New York.  The funding is made available through the State’s Regional Economic Development Council (REDC) 2016 Awards, and will be used to support the company’s East Coast expansion.

“We would like to thank the BPSS, the Empire State Development Board, and the New York Regional Economic Development Council for all the support in bringing Galvanize to New York City,” said Deters. “We are a 21st century school with the best data-science faculty in the world, and bringing that access to such a diverse and dense market as New York will allow us to offer the best tech education available to anyone with the smarts, drive, and grit to transform their lives and land their dream job.”

According to a recent report from Startup Genome, New York City is serving as the launching pad for more than 6,300 startups to date. Those who are interested in finding out more can attend the May 23 information session at the Galvanize New York Campus located in West Soho.

Galvanize proudly partners with diversity and inclusion organizations such as Women Who Code, Vets in Tech and Change Catalyst, to provide an onramp into tech for anyone with the ambition and aptitude, regardless of background. The company has also worked with companies like Atlassian, Google, and Adobe to bring underrepresented groups into tech and the company’s Galvanize Foundation is a 501c3 scholarship fund, is focused on tech inclusion, and distributes finances to tech immersive programs.

The Data Science Immersive courses are scheduled to begin June 12 and July 31, and the first NYC Web Development course begins June 19. Completing these courses ensure students have access to the fast-paced tech industry and the 1.2 million unfilled tech jobs in the country—and the close to 10,000 unfilled data science, software, and data analyst jobs in New York alone.
