Bandit Big Rig Series Heads to Highland Rim July 1st

BLOOMING PRAIRIE, Minn., June 22, 2017 — The Minimizer Bandit Big Rig Series is taking things up a notch by visiting Highland Rim Speedway, Saturday, July 1st.

“The Rim,” as its known, is the first quarter-mile track on the 2017 Bandit schedule.

“Quarter miles make for some interesting action because they’re so short,” Bandit Director of Operations Brian Madsen said.  “There isn’t much room on the track, so you can expect more bumping and rubbing, two things that fans love to see!”

The last time the Bandits hit the track, Ricky Rude had his three-race win streak snapped by Mike Morgan.

“We were waiting for that win since the start of the season,” Morgan said.

Rude and Morgan are now one-two in the points standings, respectively.

Expectations are high for the race at Highland Rim, with a sellout crowd expected at the old track in Greenbriar, Tennessee.

“They’ve been sold out of food and drinks everywhere we’ve been,” team owner and driver Craig Kruckeberg said.  “The response has been fantastic.”

Drivers race for a $50,000 purse at every Bandit event, with the winner of the feature race taking home a $10,000 check.

Eight races remain in 2017, which has seen many Bandit firsts, including the first time a father/son have competed (Bob & Tommy Boileau) as well as an entire family of Bandits (Craig, Tyler & Trevor Kruckeberg).

Gates open at 4:30 p.m. July 1st and the racing action starts at 6 p.m.
